Design and implementation of custom communication protocols is a specialty of Tiger Innovations. We have significant experience with TCP/IP (and UDP/IP) based applications, as well as designing, using, and exploiting custom packet-based protocols. We have architected entire communication systems for satellite constellations from scratch, including forward error correction, simple packet encryption and authentication, as well as systems intended to work with legacy equipment and protocols.
Tiger Innovations is also capable of undertaking smaller scale projects. For example, we have designed several custom protocols for intra-satellite communications, usually stack-based packet protocols (approaching a spacecraft-LAN in one case). Many of these protocols have been point-to-point based transport protocols, allowing application-to-application communication without application interference in, or knowledge of, the underlying communication method. We generally design the protocols so that they are scalable for future needs, while balancing the need for efficient implementation.
In addition to the custom designed protocols, we have extensive experience with standard protocols, such as PPP, HDLC, ISDN, and MIL-STD-1553.
